Stories, tips & tools from your solo female travel expert - September edition
Where I am now 🌍
I’m so happy you’re here for a new issue of Nomad Notes by Vero Goes Solo, my monthly postcard from the road where I share tips, tools, and inspiration for solo travel and the digital nomad lifestyle.
I’m writing to you from Gwangju, South Korea 🇰🇷, where I recently started my very first Workaway experience after spending some amazing days in Seoul. I’m staying with a local family and honestly… I keep asking myself why I didn’t try this sooner! It’s such a great way to connect with people, dive into the culture, and travel in a more meaningful way. If you were already thinking of signing up but you haven’t, here’s my referral that you can use to get one extra month for free automatically added to your annual subscription.

I’ll be spending about 20 days in South Korea before heading off to my next adventure, but for now, I’m enjoying learning about daily life here, sharing meals, and discovering a side of Korea that most travelers never get to see.
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that over the past few months I sold most of my belongings, left my life in Spain, and embarked on a one-way adventure to the other side of the world. The last few months have been busy, full of uncertainty and doubts about the future, but since leaving, I’ve felt more empowered and alive than ever. I’m enjoying every single moment of this journey and embracing the excitement of the unknown.
This feeling is truly amazing, and I’m so grateful for it. 💫 Keep following me on Instagram if you want to see where I’m headed next!
Me at Malaga’s airport the day of my departure
📍 Featured destination: Northern Lights, Norway 🇳🇴Chasing the Northern Lights was one of the most magical moments of my life. Standing under the Arctic sky, watching it light up in green and purple swirls, is something I’ll never forget. If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the Northern Lights, autumn is a great time to plan a trip. In my blog post, I share everything from the best times and places to see them to tips for solo travelers. This month’s travel toolkit 🎒
📱 App I’m actually using: NAVER
Forget Google Maps in Korea, it doesn’t work well here. Naver is the app you need for navigating, finding transport options, and getting around like a local.
🌐 Site worth bookmarking: Workaway
Since it shaped my current adventure, I have to include it here. A great way to discover volunteer and cultural exchange opportunities worldwide. Signup thought my referral if you want to get one extra month for free.
🧳 Travel hack I swear by:
Pack a power strip with multiple outlets (preferably with USB ports). It saves so much hassle in hostels, airports, or when you’re traveling in a country where plug adapters are bulky.
✍️ Writing prompt for fellow travelers:
What’s one travel experience that changed the way you see the world? Write it down, it might become one of your favorite stories to share later.
