Nomad notes by Vero Goes Solo

Stories, tips & tools from your solo female travel expert

Hi there!

I’m so happy you’re here 👋 I’m Vero, solo traveler, digital nomad, and the face behind the travel blog Vero Goes Solo.

After years of exploring the world on my own and sharing tips with friends who kept asking me for travel advice, I realized it was time to launch my own newsletter 🙂

Nomad Notes is my way of staying connected with curious, independent souls like you and sharing the useful (and sometimes unexpected) things I learn along the way.

Where I am now 🌍

Right now, I’m writing to you from Málaga, Spain, sipping coffee in my living room with a beautiful sea view. This is the place I come back to when I need to slow down and recharge between adventures. I’ll be spending most of the next two months here, getting ready for some big changes coming up soon.
Curious? Follow me on Instagram to see what’s next, I’m feeling both excited and a little nervous… but ready for the ride! 😅

Featured destination:
Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka

This surf town turned out to be one of my favorite digital nomad spots last Summer.
Think yoga mornings, beach cafés, best waves for surfing, fresh tropical fruits and some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met.

This month’s travel toolkit 🎒

📱 App I’m actually using:
Nomad Her – If you’re a solo female traveler, this one’s for you. NomadHer is a travel app designed by and for women who explore the world on their own. You can connect with other solo travelers nearby, join group trips or meetups, and even access travel safety tips and stories from other women. It’s like having a supportive travel community in your pocket.

🌐 Site worth bookmarking:
Numbeo.com – Want to know the cost of living in Bali vs Lisbon? This tool breaks it down (even coffee prices!) so you can plan smarter.

🧳 Travel hack I swear by:
Always carry a universal sink plug + a few laundry sheets. It turns any hotel sink into a mini laundry station!

✍️ Writing prompt for fellow travelers:
What’s one moment during a trip where you felt completely free?” Write it down somewhere. Those are the memories worth keeping.

Travel Tip of the Month

Never underestimate a good local SIM card

Before you rely on café or hotel Wi-Fi, check for an eSIM like Airalo, it saved me more than once while traveling around Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or Brazil.

See you next month! Until then stay brave, stay curious, and keep going solo. 💫
