Stories, tips & tools from your solo female travel expert - January edition
Where I am now 🌍
I’m writing to you from Melbourne 🇦🇺, where I spent a few unforgettable days, attending the Australian Open, if you know me well, you know how much I love tennis. Being there, watching matches live, soaking up the atmosphere, and finally experiencing a tournament I’ve dreamed about since I was a little tennis player felt incredibly special. I’m so grateful for this experience 🎾

To make the most out of my days in Victoria, I also did a Great Ocean Road tour, which was absolutely stunning. Rugged coastline, endless ocean views, and that feeling of being very small in front of nature… one of those experiences that stays with you.

I wouldn’t have expect it but I really enjoyed Melbourne: creative, lively, and full of character. That said, at this stage of my life, I don’t see myself moving to a city like that permanently, but I’m very happy I got to experience it this way and I can recommend it over Sydney to anyone that feels the need of some European big city vibes while in Australia.

This month’s travel toolkit 🎒
📱 App I’m actually using: Too Good to go
A great app if you want to save money and reduce food waste, you can buy unsold food from cafés, bakeries, and restaurants at a discounted price, perfect when you’re staying in cities for a bit longer. I was happy to discover it made it to Australia 🙂
🌐 Site worth bookmarking: Seat 61
If you love slow travel or train journeys, this site is a goldmine, it explains how to travel by train almost anywhere in the world, in a super clear and practical way, I absolutely love it!
🧳 Travel hack I swear by:
When visiting big cities, save places on Google Maps by category (cafés, viewpoints, food, walks). It makes spontaneous exploring much easier and avoids decision fatigue.
✍️ Writing prompt for fellow travelers:
What’s one childhood dream you’d still love to experience someday? Where in the world could it take you?

Little side note: I’ve also decided to get back on Instagram, starting from scratch and with much more intention this time. If you’d like to follow along and see more behind the scenes of this journey, you can find me here, I’ll start posting very soon > @verogoessolo2
